I am completing my masters in management. It covers a large scope of work place practices that can be suited for real estate.

Most MBA programs don't have a concentration in Real Estate - the University of Wisconsin is the only one that comes to mind.
Nevertheless, an MBA is probably your best bet. You'll get a broad based education that is generally applicable to the real estate industry. You can tailor your program via electives in real estate to lean towards that aspect.
Many top schools offer an evening or an executive program to accomodate working students. That's how I got my MBA from the University of Michigan. The same profs taught the night classes as the daytime ones.

That is good to know that my MBA in Technology Management won't go to waste!! I'm knew to the Property Management career path and was wondering the best way to leverage my advanced degree to move into the asset management area of residential properties.

An advanced degree with very little or no experience won't help you much, but as someone said an MBA is very valuable.

I have a Master's In Management which I believe has helped me in my career. My undergraduate degree is in Real Estate which gave me the basics. The Master's in Management offers a broad perspective in a variety of disciplines which I believe is important to senior management - finance management, marketing management, human resource management, just to name a few. All are important in PM

Unfortunately in the property management world, experience is huge. Of course, all the "known" skills can be acquired and perfected such as AP, AR, budgeting, lease administration, monthly reporting, loan administration, etc. These are skills that are perfected through repitition and can be measured. The skills that are hard to come by are the odd requests, issues or disasters that require the experience to be able to respond appropriately. A couple that come to mind are a sudden flood in a space, a roof collapse with people inside the space, a significant power outage, preparation for a hurricane, etc. Sometimes by watching your mentors handle these issues, you learn volumes.
My suggestion would be to get your CPM as this is very valuable on the asset management level also then volunteer for anything that will give you as much experience as you can get.
Good luck!

If you already have your CPM and would like to continue your real estate education, I would suggest considering working on the CCIM designation. I attained my CCIM after completing my CPM and found it very valuable. It focuses on an ownership / asset management side and re enforces and expands on the financial aspect of property management.
Masters degrees can never hurt your abilities and resume, but I would look hard to find one that actually has a real estate or finance component.
I would also suggest getting very involved in IREM. Knowledge of and involvement in IREM both at a local and national level will increase your skillset tremendously. Attendance at national conventions is invaluable and has made me much more well versed on all industry topics and real issues which our owners and asset managers are facing and want us to know how to handle.
Good luck!
