ENERGY STAR® Clothes Washers Save Money

Lower utility bills, less maintenance, and the market appeal of a greener building—property management company Realty Management Services (RMS) of Maryland is enjoying all these benefits from an experimental laundry room in one of the company’s luxury high rises. To get these benefits, RMS agreed to install 14 new ENERGY STAR qualified washers and 14 dryers three years before the laundry contract came up for renewal. We recently remodeled and retrofited our laundry rooms with energy star w/d and the tenants did react favorably. Tenant Comments from a survey were "saved money on drying" "came back and use the laundry again" "more efficient" Not only did we see a rise in laundry income but our tenant retention rate rose slightly.
