Making Case for Rental Housing
A New Housing Policy: Making the Case for Rental Housing
Source: www.nmhc.org
Apartment firms battle pervasive stereotypes about apartments and the people who live in them. Unfortunately, those false stereotypes inform much of our housing policy. The result is a growing disconnect between our housing policy and our housing needs.
The National Multi Housing Council (NMHC) is working to change that with a new PowerPoint Presentation it is making available to the apartment industry.
The presentation makes four key points:
* America wants rental housing.
* America needs rental housing.
* Renters—whether affordable renters or lifestyle renters—are not second-class citizens.
* There is a growing disconnect between America's housing needs and its current housing policy.
I don't think there is an argument (in most parts of the country) that rental housing including affordable housing startups are needed. Hopefully, if the presentation is received by the right group we can get lending back in full swing so that Investors can build, contractors and the various trades can get back to work and families, students, seniors and other groups can benefit by obtaining affordable housing alternatives.
